Buford Lady Wolves 2009-2010 State Championship Season Summary

The Buford Lady Wolves 2009-2010 season was “business as usual.” The Lady Wolves defended their State Title by winning Back-to-Back state championships. The season had its ups and downs but the Lady Wolves pulled through and proved that they were the best team in the state once again.

The Lady Wolves were lead by five seniors that earned the respect of their teammates and coaches by their work ethic. This group may not have passed the basketball “eye test” but their determination and leadership left no doubt that it would be “business as usual” for the Lady Wolves. The only senior returning starter to the Back-to-Back state champions was Alysha Rudnik, who is now playing softball at Georgia Tech. She was joined by Ayana Ward, Jessica Ours, Kayla Burge, and Lacey Pass. These seniors were the glue to our team this past year and showed outstanding commitment and dedication to this past years team and program. Their efforts and support of our program will be recognized for the years to come.

The Lady Wolves not only were outstanding as a team, several members of the team were recognized for their outstanding play, character and academic achievements. Senior Alysha Rudnik was named to the 6-AA All Region Team, earned recognition as a Gwinnett player of the month from the Gwinnet Tip Off Club and also earned the scholar Athlete Award from the Gwinnet Tip Off Club and was honorable mention All-Gwinnett County team.
